Air Compressor Accessories

An air compressor is a necessary part of any good workshop whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer or professional. Compressors power the toe-nailer for laying hardwood flooring, framing and finish nail guns, and allow you put air in your tires! That’s right. I just got back inside from checking and inflating (as necessary) the tires on my car and Jocie’s car. Along with any good compressor, you need to have the right accessories.

12V Portable Air Compressors

A 12V portable air compressor is a must-have accessory for almost any vehicle, but is especially useful for off-road vehicles and ATV campers. Flat tires are just part of the territory when riding in the back country. Getting stuck in the back country with a flat or under inflated tire can really ruin a good ride.

12V Portable air compressors have a number of uses, not the least of which is an emergency air supply for tires with slow leaks or for re-inflating flat tires that have been patched on the trail. For campers, having an air compressor to inflate air mattresses can be very useful. For fisherman, having an air compressor for float tubes and inflatable boats means getting out on the water quicker.

There are different sizes of compressors available, so you will want to get one that will handle the tasks you need it for. I actually have two, a small one that I carry on my ATV and a larger one I carry in my truck. When deciding on the right air compressor there is a term you need to understand and that is Duty Cycle.

Selecting the Right Air Compressor

Air tool systems have some significant advantages and disadvantages in comparison to electric tools. The main advantage of air tools is there is only 1 motor which is on the compressor where as with electric tools each tool has its own engine. What this means is the individual air tools last longer, are more durable, cost less, weigh less, have smaller size and can provide more torque. The disadvantage is they require a compressor to operate which can be very large in size and inconvenient to move around. Once you have decided to commit to buying an air compressor you need to pick the right one that will work for you.

There are many factors in selecting the right air compressor including horse power, tank size, pounds per square inch (PSI), cubic feet per minute (CFM), noise, portability and power source. In addition to the stats of the air compressor you also need to make sure you are buying a quality product. A good compressor should last you years and years so make sure you can get a quality machine from a known manufacturer and that it will be easy to find maintenance supplies and replacement parts.

Air Compressor

It is important to ensure there is a reserve of breathable compressed gases in the tank. The amount to reserve depends on the risk of the diving trip. When scuba tanks need to be refilled scuba air compressors are used. The filling process must be done very carefully as filling too fast can result in heightened pressure and heating which turns to low pressure after cooling. Fill speed is usually at the rate of 1 bar per second to keep the tanks from this risk.

Oil free air compressors, some observations.

In oil free air compressors, water helps to cool the high points of friction. These are primarily the edges of the screws or pistons where they come in contact with the outer wall of the compressor chamber. These surfaces still have a higher degree of friction wear than normal oil injected models. Friction wear creates small metallic particles which are blown along with the moisture and compressed air

Potentially The Best Way To Obtain Cheap Air Compressors

For those of you who are looking to purchase one or more air compressors in the short term or even in the future then this article may well be worth a read. Why? Well because we as a company have just managed to obtain a real bargain when purchasing this item – this was after many weeks of searching – weeks that you will now be able to avoid.

I have been working for my present company for over 10 years now and I have to say that I love what I do. We are a small to medium manufacturing company based in the South West of England. Part of my role is to source and then purchase equipment for the organisation when the time occurs – which to be fair is not that frequent.

A few months ago the director asked me to look into the prices for air compressors and screw compressors. He was, as ever, looking to purchase these items at the most competitive of prices – he is however fully aware that cheap is not always the best option which is very much a good thing.

As you can probably imagine I have quite a large number of contacts within the industry after working for the company for over ten years and I started by phoning these people in the hope that they could provide me with what I was looking for – I obtained a number of quotes from this source.

I then browsed through the local yellow pages as well as a number of the local newspapers and I again commenced phoning a few of the advertisers where again I received a number of quotes.

It was then the internet; this proved to be the answer as the prices online were so much cheaper. So here is my tip of the day: check online for potentially the best deals for air compressors!

Cheap Online Air Compressors

I have just managed to bag myself a major bargain for a top of the range air compressor. I had been searching for one of these products for quite some time however I was not willing to pay the prices that I had been quoted due to the fact that I thought that they were too high – I am now very pleased that I had the patience to wait. In this article I will be writing about the way in which I managed to obtain such a great deal.

I run a small business which is located in the heart of England. As for a lot of businesses at the moment times are fairly tough no doubt due to the economic crisis that is currently affecting the western world. Our business has seen quite a dramatic downturn in orders however we are working hard to address this. It does mean though that money is some what tight and that we have to basically keep an eye on every penny that we spend.

One of our existing air compressors was starting to show signs of wear and tear and it was fairly obvious to all concerned that we really needed to purchase a new one. I took a drive to some of the more famous high street stores and had a look around at what they had to offer. There was certainly plenty of choice from abac compressors to industrial compressors however the prices that were shown were a little higher than I had expected them to be.

Buying Guide for Air Compressors

Air compressors can be used for more than pumping up tires. In fact, these versatile tools can power nail guns, spray guns, wrenches and many other tools. Lowe’s is happy to provide this information as a service to you.

Piston-Type Compressors have tanks that store compressed air. The motor shuts off when the pressure in the tank reaches a specified level. As air is depleted from the tank, the pressure inside drops, and the motor restarts to build the pressure back up. The pressure settings are adjustable according to the operator’s requirements. There are two kinds of piston compressors:
Single-Stage Compressors have one piston that compresses and delivers air to the storage tank. The single-stage system is normally found on light-duty compressors with a maximum rating below 150 pounds of pressure per square inch (psi). Single-stage compressors are adequate for most home users.
Two Stage Compressors have two pistons that compress and deliver air to the storage tank. The first piston compresses the air and pushes it through a check valve to the second piston. The second piston further compresses the air and delivers it to the storage tank. The two-stage system is usually found on commercial heavy-duty compressors with maximum ratings above 150 psi. Two-stage compressors are good choices for continuous use or shop environments.
Compact Air Compressors are the smallest and lightest compressors available. These compressors don’t have storage tanks, so they must run continuously to supply air. Compact compressors power caulk guns, glue guns, small spray guns, and can inflate sports equipment and tires.
